Yahrzeit Donations Year-Round

In our faith, observing the yahrzeits of loved ones is a sacred individual and communal act. At home, we light a memorial candle. In community, we say Kaddish, and many of us follow the tradition of giving tzedakah, an act of charity to honor the memory of a loved one. Each Shabbat, we stand together in remembrance of the lives and losses in our midst.

There are multiple ways to remember a yahrzeit in community:

Tzedakah: It you wish to mark the occasion with a gift in honor of a yahrzeit, please visit the Donate Online page of our website, where you will be able to chose among community funds to be benefitted by your donation. Please email a list the names of those whose yahrzeits you wish to observe, along with the secular or Hebrew dates, to info@hamakomtheplace.org or send it to HaMakom at PO Box 6777, Santa Fe, NM 87502. We will add the names and dates to HaMakom’s memorial list, sharing them aloud with the community on the appropriate Shabbat just before the mourner’s Kaddish is recited. We will also send you a reminder so that you can be present for the recitation of Kaddish if you wish. 

 

Kiddush: If you would like to sponsor a Kiddish following Shabbat services when you are observing a yahrzeit, please contact Hazzan Cindy Freedman at freeart611@gmail.com, and she will be happy to assist you.

Yizkor Donations: A Life of Memories

You can have names of departed loved ones inscribed in HaMakom’s 5784 (2023) Yizkor Memorial Book by donating $18 for each name.

To have one or more names inscribed and pay with PayPal:

1. Specify the number of names to be inscribed from the list below.

2. Click Add to Cart to make your donation.

3. Provide the list of names with Yahrzeit dates when you make the PayPal payment, send the list to info@hamakomtheplace.org, or mail it to the address below.
